Alternator Pulleys

Alternator pulleys are not always listed in a unit breakdown, and are not always the easiest to find a replacement for depending on application. If not listed, the original pulley will need to be measured out to find a suitable replacement. Measurements include inside diameter, outside diameter, belt width, and center of rear belt to rear of pulley. These measurements along with the style of pulley (v or serpentine) and number of ribs or v's can narrow down the results and come up with the replacement.

Newer applications may now run clutch, or decoupler pulleys which allow the pulley to freely rotate one direction while grabbing the rotor shaft the other direction. These often have their own part numbers and can be searched for individually. They also may require special tooling to remove and install.
