Sometimes removing a blind end bushing in a drive end housing or end cap can be difficult. While a chisel may work to cut a slot and pry the bushing out, it is not always easy or feasible. A good work around is a threaded tap just a little larger than the bushing inside diameter. Thread the tap all the way through the bushing until it bottoms out on the housing below the bushing. Once the tap bottoms and more force is applied it will drive the bushing further up the tap and out of the housing. This can be made easier with the help of an impact wrench to drive the tap.
